From cool ocean dips to lakeside picnics here's your list. Many of our ocean beaches here are only revealed with low tide so consult the tidal chart to help with planning.



OCEAN

barred island preserve
A 1.5 mile hike in Deer Isle that leads through a mossy coastal forest trail to a sand beach that can be crossed at low tide to a small island. Great place for a picnic and a swim.

AB herrick memorial landing at peters cove
A small shore-front public access point to the waters of Blue Hill Bay on Peters Cove. The landing is a combination of sandy beach and rocky shoreline and is suitable for launching kayaks or other small boats that can be carried down to the water. It is a great swimming spot at mid-high tide! Great to sit and relax on the shore or go for a swim after doing the Peter's Brook trail right across the street. 

Naskeag Point Boat Launch
A boat launch and pebble beach in Brooklin. Great place for a picnic and a dip, best at mid tide. Lounge beachside or take a guided kayak tour through the beautiful surrounding islands by booking ahead with a local
guide.

The Nub
A beautiful piece of rocky shoreline located right in Blue Hill. A small island connects to the shore at low tide
and is a quick swim at high tide.

Reach Beach
Sandy and rocky beach in Deer Isle.

newbury neck beach
Newbury Neck Beach is a small pebble beach that sits right off of the road. 2-hour parking is available on the shoulder of the road, and the beach gives you beautiful views of the nearby Mount Desert Island.

sand beach
Sand Beach is a gorgeous sand beach (rarity in Maine as most are pebble) nestled between mountains and rocky shores on the east side of Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park.


LAKE and POND
